Excursions

English in Chester's excursions and activities offer something for everyone. There are inclusive programmes on the Courses for Mature Students and Courses for Teenagers & Young Learners. There is a full and varied optional programme for all other adult students including those on the General English Courses and the Courses for Business and Professional People.

Excursions are:

  • an opportunity to appreciate life and culture in Northern England and North Wales
  • a new learning experience
  • an opportunity to relax in informal situations with other students

English in Chester recommends Chester Heritage Tours for tours of Chester and Busybus Bus and Coach Tours for guided tours of Cheshire and North Wales.

Saturday Alton Towers Theme Park
Visit the UK’s largest entertainment park, home to roller-coaster rides such as the Oblivion and Nemesis. Visit the 3D cinema, take a ride on the cable cars and explore the beautiful gardens. Book as early as possible as tickets sell out quickly!

There are numerous museums in York to visit such as the Jorvik Viking Museum and the Castle Museum. Visit the largest medieval Gothic church in Northern Europe, the York Minster and browse around the many shops in the city.

Experience Chester's Midsummer Watch Parade, with its Giants, Beasts, animated tableaux and kaleidoscope of costumed characters. The Parade starts outside the Town Hall at 2pm, and travels through the city centre.
