Greetings from Chester, today it is bright and sunny but very windy and when you go across the road to number 2 Stanley Place from the main school, you run the risk of being blown away. We are definitely into winter now, the days are getting shorter and it is becoming very difficult to get up in the mornings as it is so dark. Also exams are looming so everyone is working hard and doing all their homework.
Lots of people need to increase their vocabulary and what better way than looking at prefixes? (That's the small words like dis, mis, en and un which you can put in front of other words to change their meaning.)
The word this week is materialistic. It is an adjective we use to describe a person/people, who is more interested in money and possessions than anything else.
"Children today are so materialistic, they want everything their friends have and don't consider the cost."
Enjoy the weekend and keep practising your English!
Best wishes from Harriet and everyone at English in Chester!
