Fascinating documentary exploring the extraordinary life of Gertrude Bell, writer, archaeologist, diplomat and spy. Bell was the first British woman to travel extensively across the Middle East. She produced maps, learnt Arabic and Persian, and spent  time getting to know the diverse local populations. She became a  source of information for the British military and government in the division of Mesopotamia into an Arab state and a colonial Iraq. .
