Saiden and Orietta, teachers from the Province of Limon in Costa Rica studied with us for 4 weeks in January. Their stay was sponsored by BritCham in Costa Rica and the agency Intercultura de Centroamerica AFP, S.A. who are keen to broaden the experience of public school English language teachers. English in Chester was able to offer a partial tuition scholarship through the Richard Day Scholarship Fund. Richard said that he was very happy to help this very worthwhile initiative and to have such wonderful, enthusiastic people in the school.
We are very happy to welcome back Hannah Day, daughter of Richard Day - Owner and Director of English in Chester - as Marketing Manager after a career break to raise a young family while living abroad. Hannah is happy to be back in the family business. You can contact her on email@example.com
Our Social Programme is a very important and much appreciated part of school life. As well as full day excursions at the weekend and social events after school, we also have English Plus events to provide you with more opportunities for informal, natural English practice.
Weekly events include: Conversation Club, Book Club, Film Club and a City Walk. Monthly events include Coffee Morning, CV Workshop and English Corner (informative and entertaining sessions introducing our favourite elements of local life and culture).
We have a new year-round student residence. Waterside Court is a modern, purpose-built and designed for university students. The facilities and location are excellent. It is just 5 minutes’ walk from our school. The rooms are great and all ensuite. Each kitchen/lounge is fully equipped and shared between 5 to 6 people. The price is £150 per week.
Many of our students will remember our former residence, English House, and the House Manager, Ken, very fondly. English House has now changed ownership and become a hotel. We are sure that Waterside Court will be equally popular and provide a happy home to many EiC students.
We are very pleased to have added two great new pages to our website. The first tells the story of English in Chester, 1976 to 2016. There are lots of funny photos and memories from the last 40 years here. The second is EiC People. You can find out about our students, teachers, staff and homestay hosts here . We hope you like them as much as we do.
