English in Chester organised a dinner at a local restaurant - Moules A Go-Go - in aid of its sponsored charity Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). The restaurant provided an excellent Spanish themed dinner with accompanying wines. 120 people attended and we were delighted to raise £550 for VSO's work in poorer countries overseas.
English House celebrates its first year on 9 Jan 2013. Our self catering accommodation, in a quiet residential area of Chester, welcomed its first student this time last year. Ugi, from Switzerland was joined by Milton from Cape Verde and since then we have welcomed students from all over the world. A Red Cross advisor from Sweden, a doctor from Italy, a primary school teacher from Toledo, Spain and Seinosuke Abe from Japan – our young at heart ‘oldest’ student. They have all enjoyed and benefited from the friendly community atmosphere at English House. We offer en suite study bedrooms, a comfortable lounge where students can chat and a well-equipped kitchen.
