Enjoy live music on a train journeying from Chester to Plumley for a visit to the Golden Pheasant Pub.

The band playing is known as the Port Sunlight Sea Dogs; they sing shanties and songs of the sea.  Steeped in Merseyside traditions their music includes Maritime, Folk, Irish and Liverpool's Merseybeat roots, choir and operatic, all stirred up in a pan full of Scouse humour.  .

No need to book for this Music Train – just get into the rear carriage.  There is no charge for the Music Train, though there is a collection on the way back for the band and you will need a train ticket, which you must buy before boarding the train.  (Music Train leaves Chester at 19:00 and return leaves Plumley for Chester at 22:29.  It arrives Chester at 23:15).  At the pub you can buy drinks and bar meals.  The band plays both ways on the train and also at the pub.

Beginners’ salsa lesson starts at 20:00 and the improvers’ lesson starts around 20:45. Both classes usually last for 45 minutes. After the lessons finish, mixed salsa music is played until 00:30 (one class £5, two classes £7).

The music played is a mix of newer salsa styles, such as funky salsa and salsaton, to the older favorites like Cuban and New York as well as some bachata, merengue, cha cha and kizomba music.

This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman for his collection of plants from around the world. A visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen.

The garden features collections of rhododendrons, summer bedding displays, a stunning Dahlia Walk and the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China in the 1850s.

There are narrow gravel paths and over 400 steps throughout the garden.
