Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, or the first day of Lent. In the UK, Ireland and parts of the Commonwealth, this day is also known as "Pancake Day", as it became a traditional custom to eat pancakes as a meal. Elsewhere, the day has also been called "Mardi Gras", meaning "Fat Tuesday".

Jen will be making some traditional pancakes. Join her for some delicious treats!

Beginners’ salsa lesson starts at 20:00 and the improvers’ lesson starts around 20:45. Both classes usually last for 45 minutes. After the lessons finish, mixed salsa music is played until 00:30 (one class £5, two classes £7).

The music played is a mix of newer salsa styles, such as funky salsa and salsaton, to the older favorites like Cuban and New York as well as some bachata, merengue, cha cha and kizomba music.

  • Our third free Language Exchange in partnership with @storyhouselive was another success! Over 70 students and Chester locals from 20 different countries met, chatted and got to know one another on Wednesday night.

The event was a fantastic way for our students and native English speakers to meet and find out more about each other, sharing language and culture. This Language Exchange was part of Storyhouse Festival of Languages, a brand new festival celebrating Chester's diverse speaking cultures.
